Smooth 6.45 Treadmill Review

Smooth 6.45 Treadmill

The Smooth 6.45 treadmill was introduced in 2008 as a replacement for the 6.25 and is one of Smooth Fitness’ latest models. The Smooth 6.25 was a proven performer with a long track record of solid performance. It’s primary drawback was the length of the belt. At 54 inches, it was simply too short for most users-particularly runners.

Smooth Fitness addressed this issue when designed the 6.45 and increased the length of the belt by six inches. Users now enjoy 60 inches of leg room. In addition to this upgrade, the Smooth 6.45 has a bigger motor and the M model (6.45M) has a built-in sound system.

The MSRP on the Smooth 6.45 is $2,297.00 but is regularly on sale for $1499-$1599 and you pay no sales tax unless you are a resident of Pennsylvania or Indiana.

The Smooth 6.45 is no longer available.
As of November 2009, it was replaced by the Smooth 6.75 Treadmill.

Feedback & Overview
Actual Expert and Customer Feedback:

With the longer deck, bigger motor, standard heart rate strap- are you getting the picture??? This treadmill is such a huge improvement over the 6.25 that it is hard to understand why they didn't make these upgrades earlier. A real winner for Smooth! -TreadmillDoctor.com

It is a pleasure to workout on, very quiet and all the cushioning I would want. Very satisfied customer. Thanks! -Smooth Fitness Customer

I did a lot of research , asked some friends, and the 6.45 ended up looking like the best treadmill for the money. I’ve had it for six weeks now and am overall very happy with it. It’s obviously not the monster I’m used to using at the gym but its suits my needs pretty well. -Smooth Fitness Customer

You really cant compare price points when it comes to this treadmill. This feels as sturdy as the ones in my health club and as quiet as you can imagine. -Smooth Fitness Customer

I purchased this treadmill mainly for walking. But I believe joggers and perhaps runners would be satisfied with it. The 6.45 is very quiet. -Smooth Fitness Customer

Walkers, Joggers, Runners (except hardcore marathon-type runners)

Pros:
-Longer deck
-Bigger motor
-Heart rate strap included

Cons:
-No track record (new model)
-Not built for hardcore marathon runners

The Smooth 6.45 treadmill was introduced around the middle of 2008 so it doesn't have a long track record. Don't let that scare you away from considering this model. Based on what experts and customers have to say about it, the 6.45 is not only as good as its proven predecessor, it's better. At around $1,500, this is probably one of the better treadmills for joggers and runners at this price point.

The Smooth 6.45 is no longer available. As of November 2009, it was replaced by the Smooth 6.75 Treadmill.

I’m not usually a big fan of device or machine models that haven’t been tried and tested because I preferr to let others test it out for me first before I went in and got one myself :) But I made an exception with the Smooth 6.45 because I was a 6.25 owner and had no complains about it at all. So when I heard of the 6.45’s longer deck, I was first in line for it, and I’m perfectly happy with it.

To J. Lerch: Wow, that’s definitely a bummer. I can’t imagine buying an equipment with a supposedly “lifetime” warranty, only to be given the runaround when you go ahead and make claims against it. To be fair though, I bought a 6.45M a few months back and had a slight problem with the speaker system. I went ahead and called support and my equipment was fixed within 48 hours! Guess they’re not as accommodating to 6 1/2 old customers.

Thanks for your feedback. However, the console falls under the parts and electronics portion of the warranty - which is 5 years. And believe it or not, a 5 year warranty on parts and electronics for mid-range treadmills (which most of Smooth’s treadmills are) is one of the better warranties out there.

You don’t mention which specific Smooth treadmill you have or how often you use it as that information would be helpful to pass along.

I understand your frustration with Smooth, but a warranty is a warranty and your treadmill is 6 1/2 years old. Granted, they could have had a better attitude about the situation but it’s kind of hard for them to replace a specific style of console that isn’t made anymore and is out of warranty.

Beware SMOOTH Treadmills. Their warranty is worthless. I have a 6 1/2 year old Smooth treadmill with a motor that is still running and still under warranty.

The console is shot, so the treadmill is inoperable. Smooth informs me that the console is no longer manufactured because the company that made Smooth parts is now bankrupt (Keys). No console available. The attitude at Smooth? Wow - bad luck for you.

The treadmill is a piece of junk and the warranty is worse. Avoid this company.

I owned the Smooth 6.25 and upgraded to the Smooth 6.45 and I like it much better. The longer deck definitely makes a difference.
