The Smooth 6.45 treadmill is a new model offered by Smooth Fitness and is an upgrade from the highly-regarded Smooth 6.25 model. It is built on the same frame as the 6.25 and uses many of the same electronics. Even the consoles are the same on these two treadmills.

There are two versions of this model - the 6.45 and the 6.45M. The only difference between these two models is the 6.45M has a built-in sound system and the 6.45 doesn’t. It can handle jogging or intense running. Just like other Smooth Fitness’ motors, it is covered with a lifetime warranty.

Another high-end feature on the Smooth 6.45 treadmill is the shock absorption deck. It greatly lessens the impact on knees and joints. The shock absorption consists of two pivotal arms, like rocker arms on a car. Thus, the name, “Swing Arm Suspension System.” These arms work to absorb the impact on knees and joints and they give you less of a bounce back impact while working out. This system makes the machine ideal for someone who works out for a long time, or someone with back, knee or foot problems.

When buying a treadmill, the stability of the machine is very important or you’ll have a horrible exercise experience. Given the weight of the Smooth 6.45 treadmill you won’t have that problem as its incredibly stable. Just make sure you have it set up where you think you will keep it permanently. Yes, it is a folding treadmill, but it isn’t the easiest thing in the world to push around.

Put those headphones away because you won’t need them if you opt for the Smooth 6.45M model. This model includes a fairly impressive sound system with an input jack for your MP3 player or iPod. It also has a large volume control right on the console.

The console on the Smooth 6.45 treadmill displays distance, speed, calories, pulse and time, and even a speed profile display which will show you how intense every stage of your workout is. It also comes with eight workout programs, nine user profiles and three user defined programs.

It comes equipped with wireless heart rate control as well but unfortunately, the wireless belt needed to use it is not included. Smooth charges extra for that, but most wireless belts should work with it. If you already have a wireless heart rate monitor your belt will probably work so test it out first before springing for a new one from Smooth.

Smooth provides a lifetime warranty on the motor, frame, and deck and five years on parts. In addition, they offer a one year in-home service and labor warranty. If your treadmill needs repair within the first year, Smooth takes care of it. The warranties on the Smooth 6.45 are some of the best in its price range.

In summary, the Smooth 6.45 with its improved motor and longer deck is an excellent choice for runners or tall people - especially when you consider this treadmill usually sells for around $1,700 and has such solid warranties.
